The Knowledge Builder Mobile App consists of 2 components; a generic rules engine app and the developed application's specific data files.
The rules engine is a generic Knowledge Builder app that can execute all applications developed using Knowledge Builder (Mobile Deployment option). The rules engine can be downloaded from the App Store / Google Play or installed directly onto mobile devices. Once installed on a mobile device, this app downloads and runs the latest published version of the specified application data files (generated and uploaded by Knowledge Builder to a specified web server). A special web portal is provided to manage access to the uploaded application data files and related resources. The separation of the rules engine from the application data files has the major advantage that new versions of the developed app need not be submitted for approval by the App Store.
As an alternative to mobile apps deployment, Knowledge Builder can use the Browser Deployment option to generate web applications with a mobile user interface. This can be run by any web Browser (from Desktops as well as Mobile devices) by pointing the web Browser to the deployed application's URL. Unlike mobile apps deployment, this deployment option requires the mobile device to be online throughout running the deployed application.
